Occultation

An audio plugin that turns light into sound. Point it at a camera, a video, a telescope stack or an infinite star chart — a cursor sweeps the frame in time with your host, and plays what it finds.

Anything that makes a picture

A built-in or USB camera, a video file, an RTSP or HTTP stream, a still — or a FITS astrophotography stack, read by a parser written for the job.

An infinite sky

Sky Map mode draws a procedural equatorial star chart: real stars at their true magnitude and position, labelled constellations, the brighter Messier objects. Pan past a pole and the sky wraps — there is always more to reveal.

Brightness becomes melody

At each step the sequencer samples 24 horizontal lanes and fires the brightest, mapped onto any of 34 scales. The threshold between note and background finds itself, by Otsu’s method.

Invader mode

Fly a ship over the image. Shots punch craters that drop out of the loop and heal over four seconds, each laser harmonises with the note currently sounding, and flying through a bright region arpeggiates it without destroying it.
