Occultation

An audio plugin that turns light into sound. Load an image, a video, a telescope image stream or star chart — the sequencer (from 1 step to 64) sweeps the selected pixels frame from left to right and generates notes using a powerful synth, two additional modes bring an infinite number of possibilities and melodies.

Load a pixels source

A built-in or USB camera, a video file, an RTSP or HTTP stream, a still — or a FITS astrophotography stack. It works specially well on astronomy pictures (dark background and stars)

The sequencer : brightness becomes melody

At each step it samples 24 horizontal lanes and triggers the brightest, mapped onto the selected musical scale (35 modes available, from Lydian, to Dorian, Mixolydian, Harmonic Minor, etc...). With 2 sliders, you can also set the root note, and define a brightness threshold for notes generation.

Bounce mode

Select a star by clicking on it, then throw it around, it will move like a shooting star : when it hits an object, or the window edge, it will generate a sound in tune with the selected musical mode ! Infinite melodies and rythms.

Invader mode

Fly a ship over the image, control it with the keyboard arrows. Space key shoots lasers ! Shots punch craters that drop out of the loop and heal over four seconds, each laser harmonises with the note currently sounding, and flying through a bright region arpeggiates it without destroying it.

Synthesizer

Control precisely with an analog feel generated music : wave shape selection and 15 knobs usually seen on good old vintage synthesizers allow familiar control of the audio result (detune, glide, ADSR, filter, drive, chorus, delay, reverb).

Synthesis presets

Cinematic presets allow to instantly teleport yourself into a different mood in the Universe : close your eyes and you're moving with grace between the nebulas ! Store and re-use easily your favorite sounds !
